Disability.gov.uk

The Disability Unit has tried to make www.disability.gov.uk fully accessible for disabled users. This site conforms to the guidelines published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the body which exists to promote the evolution and interoperability of the Worldwide Web. The site design has also been validated using the BOBBY accessibility tool, a web-based tool that analyses web pages for their accessibility for disabled people's use. W3C

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) develops interoperable technologies (specifications, guidelines, software, and tools) to lead the Web to its full potential. W3C is a forum for information, commerce, communication, and collective understanding. Link to W3c for more information

WAI

WAI, in coordination with organizations around the world, pursues accessibility of the Web through five primary areas of work: technology, guidelines, tools, education and outreach, and research and development. The guidelines issued by the WAI have been accepted as the Worldwide standard. Link to WAI for more information

Bobby

Bobby is a comprehensive web accessibility software tool designed to help expose and repair barriers to accessibility and encourage compliance with existing accessibility guidelines. Bobby tests for compliance with government standards, including the U.S. Government's Section 508. It offers prioritized suggestions based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines provided by the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Access Initiative. Link to Bobby for more information
